Dr. Cho Long Kim, NMD, PMHNP-BC, is a naturopathic physician and board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner dedicated to advancing integrative approaches to addiction medicine and mental health care. With a career spanning over a decade in behavioral health and substance use treatment, she is recognized for blending conventional medical treatment with holistic and naturopathic principles to support comprehensive patient recovery.
Dr. Kim earned her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of California, Riverside in 2004, before pursuing her passion for holistic medicine at the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe, Arizona, where she received her Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine (NMD) in 2008. During her naturopathic training she developed a strong interest in addiction medicine, integrating modalities such as nutrition, acupuncture, traditional Chinese medicine, homeopathy, and naturopathic manipulation to address the root causes of disease and restore balance to the body.
To further expand her ability to care for individuals with complex behavioral health conditions, Dr. Kim later obtained certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). This dual training allows her to provide comprehensive psychiatric assessment, medication management, and integrative care for patients experiencing substance use disorders, trauma, anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions.
Throughout her career, Dr. Kim has served in numerous leadership roles across addiction treatment centers in Arizona. She has held medical directorship positions at multiple behavioral health facilities and has worked extensively with multidisciplinary teams dedicated to recovery-oriented care. Her leadership experience includes work with organizations such as The River Source, Scottsdale Recovery Center, Canyon Vista Recovery Center, and other treatment programs focused on substance use recovery and behavioral health services.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Kim is committed to advocating for compassionate, stigma-free care for individuals struggling with mental health and substance use disorders. She also contributes to education and mentorship through faculty appointments at the collegiate level and engages the broader community through health education initiatives, podcasts, and public outreach focused on empowerment and wellness.
A cancer survivor and advocate for whole-person wellness, Dr. Kim embodies the integrative principles she promotes in her practice. She encourages self-care and resilience through lifestyle medicine practices such as strength training, meditation, yoga, and mindful living. Her work reflects a deep commitment to helping individuals reclaim health, stability, and purpose through a balanced approach that addresses the mind, body, and spirit.

Her work centers on treating the biological, psychological, and social drivers of substance use and mental health disorders while restoring long-term health and resilience in patients.

She subsequently expanded her clinical scope by becoming a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, allowing her to bridge conventional psychiatric medicine with functional and integrative medical therapies.
Throughout her career, Dr. Kim has held leadership roles across multiple behavioral health and addiction treatment organizations in Arizona, serving as medical director and clinical architect for detoxification, residential treatment, and outpatient recovery programs. She has been instrumental in designing multidisciplinary care models that integrate psychiatric care, medication-assisted treatment, trauma-informed therapy, and holistic modalities including nutritional medicine, mind-body therapies, and lifestyle medicine.
As a founder and program developer, Dr. Kim focuses on building treatment environments that address both the medical complexity and the human realities of addiction.
